FASTA to multi-FASTA converter

Converts your FASTA files in seconds!

Description:

Fasta to multi-Fasta Converter will search for all FASTA files in the specified folder and will merge their content in a single file, generating a standard or custom multi-FASTA file. Protein FASTA files are not supported.

Install process:

Starting with October 2008, Fasta to multi-Fasta converter was integrated in DNA Baser, together with other free molecular biology tools. Just download the package (only 2MB) and double click it. The install process should take less than 5 seconds. The installer will automatically extract all files to the specified folder and it will start the main program.

How to use the converter:

  * Start the Fasta to multi-Fasta Converter from the 'Tools -> Fasta to multi-Fasta converter' menu.

  * Locate the folder that contains your FASTA files.

  * Choose a name for the output file (the default name is "Result 1")

  * Press the 'Start' button.

The resulted multi-FASTA file will be automatically saved in the same folder.

Formats supported:

I. Keep original comments (standard multi-Fasta)
     In this mode, the program will create standard multi-FASTA files where the original comment of each FASTA file will be kept. Recommended for most users.

II. File name as comment
     In this mode, the original comment of each FASTA file will be replaced with file's name.

III. No comments (compact multi-Fasta)
     In this mode, the comments will be completely removed from the resulted multi-Fasta file. However the contents will be saved in a file, separated by a semicolon.

     A second output file will contain the names of all input FASTA files.
