454 Easy SFF Tools

The way the bioinformatics should be...

How to use it

View SFF samples

Double click a file to view its content.

Shift+Click to select multiple samples.

Click the table header to sort by length or quality.

Edit
Press 'Delete' key to delete the selected samples.

Saving as FASTA

Click 'Save' to save the currently opened file as FASTA/multiFASTA. The program trims low quality regions and adaptors before saving the sequences to disk if the 'Trim ends' check box is checked.

Sample quality

The 'Average quality' column shows the average quality of a sample. The maximum value is 40 (fully trusted).

The gray color indicates the adaptor sequence and/or the low quality regions (clipped by the 454 software that generated the SFF file). If both the adaptor sequence and low quality regions exists, the gray area will be expanded to cover both of them.

Cutting a SFF file

Use the SFF Cutter to cut a SFF in smaller pieces. The 'SFF Cutter' function does not apply to the SFF file currently open but to the selected file in 'Sample Explorer'.
