Before uninstalling the program

Before uninstalling DNA Baser Assembler, please let us know the reason. We will provide free and fast support!

10 seconds uninstall procedure

DNA BASER Assembler is system independent. This means it that it installs no garbage (DLL's, ActiveX, Java machines, .Net, scripts, etc) into your Windows' core! To uninstall all files that were copied in your computer during the install process, just delete its folder. This should be 'C:\DNA Baser' unless you choose a different one during setup. You will have to manually delete all files created with DNA Baser after setup (for example the contigs and logs of the assembly process).

Step by step uninstall procedure:

  • Make sure that DNA BASER Assembler (or other programs delivered in DNA Baser package) is not running.
  • Make sure that other programs/tools (like Show Desktop Alternative) delivered in DNA Baser package are not running.
  • Go to the installation folder (default is 'C:\DNA Baser') and delete it.
  • Delete the icon from your Desktop/Start menu.

In case you receive a message like "Folder cannot be deleted" it means that you forgot to stop DNA Baser Sequence Assembler or its helper tools.

Please send us email if you need additional help.

Special cases

The above procedure will uninstall only files created during program installation. However, other files may be created (some by you - like contig files) while you use the program. Therefore, you must decide if you keep them or not.

1. Assembly files:

Locate and delete also all Contigs, FASTA, SEQ, SCF and LOG files generated with DNA BASER Assembler Trial.

2. File association:

At start up DNA Baser Assembler asks for your permission to associate itself with SCF/FASTA/ABI files. Due to limitations in Microsoft Windows, after the above uninstall procedure, the association will persist until you install a different program that will associate itself with SCF/FASTA/ABI files.
Fix 1: Install a different software and let it to associate itself with the SCF/FASTa/ABI files.

Fix 2: Change file association from Windows' Folder Settings.

A special case represents the SCF files. With our 'Show Desktop Alternative' tool you can restore this association with only two clicks.

3. The INI file:

Your DNA Baser preferences are saved in a file called 'DNABaser.INI'. DNA Baser Assembler always tries to save this file in its folder. However, if you are running without administrator rights, Windows forces all programs (including DNA Baser) to save the INI files in your user profile folder.
